In the event that an overnight stay is required, little patients and their parents find comfort in Swedish Covenant Hospital's family-focused children's unit. Our nurses are specially trained in pediatric care and pediatric advanced life support to provide capable, compassionate care. Ongoing communication with the child's physician provides a continuity of care. And a specialist from Children's Memorial Hospital is here 24 hours a day to monitor patients, answer questions and take over in case of an emergency.
The setting is specifically designed for little ones to keep up their spirits. The all-private rooms are bright and cheery, decorated with kid-friendly artwork and colors. From Band-Aids to blood pressure cuffs, every piece of equipment is geared for children.
Parents are encouraged to hold and play with their children, stay overnight and be part of the care team. When circumstances prevent parents from staying over, a windowed room next to the nurses' station allows the nurses to watch the patient.
